M3 Lee [American Medium Tank] (w/ M3 Grant turret+sand shields)
Description
The M3 Lee, Officially Medium Tank, M3, Was An American Medium Tank Built In The Beginning Of The 1940S. The British Named It "Lee" After Confederate General Robert E. Lee. Although The Gun Performed Well, The Tank Had Many Drawbacks, Including A High Silhouette And The Main Gun Being Mounted In A Sponson. However, A Good Mass-Produced Tank Was In Demand To Combat The Axis Blitzkrieg, And Thousands Of M3S Were Exported To The United Kingdom And Soviet Union. The British Named Their Tanks The "M3 Grant" After American General Ulysses S. Grant To Differentiate Their Tanks From The M3 Lee. The Grant Received A New Turret That Got Rid Of The Machine Gun Cupola. Most Grants Also Received Sand Shields For Use In North Africa. After The Germans Started Mounting More Powerful Guns On Their Tanks, As Well As The Unusual Design Of The M3, The M3 Was Phased Out By The New M4 Sherman. After That, The U.S. Recalled The M3 Lee From The European Theater. However, The British Continued To Use The M3 Grant Against The Japanese Up Until 1945.
