Tevo Tornado Filament Straightener and Guide

Tevo Tornado Filament Straightener and Guide

Description

Tevo Tornado Filament Straightener And Guide: Inspired By Jonatanblom’S Filament Straightener This Is A Filament Straightener And Guide For The Tevo Tornado. It Is Attached To The Aluminum Plate Where The Titan Extruder Is Mounted. Warning, You Will Need To Drill One Hole In That Aluminum Plate To Mount This Straightener And Guide. I Suggest Removing The Three Screws That Hold The Extruder In Place Before Drilling The Hole And Attaching The Straightener. Do This At Your Own Risk. I Am Not Responsible For Anything You Do To Your Belongings Or Yourself, But I Will Try My Best To Help And Answer Any Questions. This Straightener And Guide Should Work With Top-Mounted And Side-Mounted Spool Holders. I Have Personally Found That This Made My Prints More Consistent And It Has Reduce Extruder Clicking/Skipping During The End Of A Filament Spool. Pros: • Will Give Your Filament A More Consistent Curl Throughout The Entire Life Of The Filament Spool. Therefore, May Result In More Consistent Prints. Specifically During The Last Few Meters Where The Filament Is Most Curled. • May Reduce Under Extrusion When Printing With The Last Few Meters Of Filament On A Spool. Cons: • If Your Spool Holder Is On The Control Box, The Straightener And Guide Might Get In The Way. • Permanent Hole In The Extruder Mounting Plate. Hardware: I Got These At Homedepot And Amazon. • 3 X 1” #8 Screws Or 25Mm M4 And 3 Corresponding Nuts (#8 Or M4) For The Tensioners • 5 X ½” #8 Screws Or 15Mm M4 And 5 Corresponding Nuts (#8 Or M4) For The Bearings • 1 X ½” #6 Screw Or 15Mm M3 And 1 Corresponding Nut (#6 Or M3) For Mounting • 1 X 5/32 Or 4Mm Drill Bit To Drill The Hole In Aluminum (And Of Course A Drill) • 5 X 4 X 13 X 6 Millimeter V Groove Bearings O Https://Www.Amazon.Com/Gp/Product/B012Kktbru/Ref=Oh_Aui_Detailpage_O03_S00?Ie=Utf8&Psc=1 O Https://Www.Ebay.Com/Itm/10Pcs-Metal-Sealed-Guide-Wire-Line-Track-Deep-V-Groove-Pulley-Rail-Ball-Bearing-/321898243903?Hash=Item4Af2A1673F:G:Jjqaaoswt5Twjeyd Printing: • Print The Straightener And Slider Laying Down (See 7Th And 8Th Image) • This Can Be Printed Without Supports (I Made The Holes Slightly Larger), But Printing With Supports Will Yield Better Hole Dimensions And A Better Fit. Mounting: • Take The Titan Extruder Off. • Place The Straightener On Top Of The Aluminum Plate And Position It To Your Preference. The Straightener Should Be Tight Against The Aluminum Plate To Reduce Rotation When Filament Is Pulled In And Retracted. • Use A Sharp And Narrow Metal Object To Score The Location Of The Mounting Hole And Drill It With A 5/32 Bit. • Put The Straightener And Guide On The Bottom Of The Aluminum Plate And Screw It In Place With The #6 Or M3 Screw And Corresponding Nut. • There Is An Extra Hole On Top And To The Side That Connect. You Can Loop A Zip-Tie Through These Two Holes. I Added This Because I Some Time Found The Filament Slipped Off Of The Bearing Leading To The Extruder During Excessive Retraction. If You Have Any Suggestions Or Improvements On This Design, Please Let Me Know And I’Ll Try My Best To Add Them.
