Description

There are several tiny bearings on thingiverse, and I also made an earring featuring pp3dp's bearing, but it was a little bulky: http://thingiverse.com/thing:7127 As the small ones found here usualy need to be assembled, and downscaling the others will not work out, I made one from scratch. Suprisingly, even 2mm balls print fine. But they kept falling out, even after changing size and depth of the bearing rail. The 5th try then has a flat plate on top and on the bottom. As the limited resolution of the 3d printer was not capable of printing the sharp edges of the bearing, there allways was enough space for the balls to fall out. Sorry for the bad picture. But yes, it's that tiny and it works- just needs zweezers that crack the little balls loose, using it as a leaver. You might notice the even smaller bearing in one of the pictures. With the thicker plate-mod it would work. Only one of the tiniest actually turned, as the balls where fused to the axis :-) All other turned a few times untill the play was big enough for the balls to roll all over the place. With the "restrictor" plate, you could probably use the smaller balls as they do not fuse so hard to the rest of the print. But as this is a daily project, and I already wasted hours on it, I won't continue it. I'm happy with the print as it is... Still, you COULD print it even smaller, just use one of the smaller versions and put a "restrictor plate" ontop. Under 8mm with three balls would probably work!
