MKS SBase and Smoother Case for 2020 2040 Extrusion
Description
This is a case for the MKS SBase (v1.3) controller that includes mounting locations for MKS Smoothers and an optional 120mm fan. Notes: * The MKS SBase is considered "[a cancer, a parasite](http://smoothieware.org/troubleshooting?s[]=mks#somebody-refused-to-help-me-because-my-board-is-a-mks-what-s-that-all-about)" by Smoothieware. You may want to consider supporting the project in some way if you purchase this board. * Although it is possible to use external drivers, the SBase includes DRV8825 drivers which [have issues with microsteps](http://www.engineerination.com/2015/02/drv8825-missing-steps.html). These can be addressed at 12V using **8** diodes per motor and this case includes mounting locations for up to 5 MKS Smoother diode boards. At 24V you would need 16 diodes per motor so a better option might be to go with an external driver. I have TMC drivers on the way for a 24V setup and will design adapters so they can use the diode mount points in the future. The other option is enable fast decay but it's not optimal either (noisy and requires very fine soldering work). * One wall has been thickened and includes holes for M5 (10mm) bolts to attach to popular extrusion profiles like 2020 and 2040. * The first image shows the Z-axis motor jumpered to the E1 motor. This allows for synchronously driving 2x Z-axis motors at full power. * The extra room is intended for holding extra wires, DC-DC converters or whatever else you can fit in the space.
