Arrow Rest with Magnet and Wire

Arrow Rest with Magnet and Wire

Description

I recently got myself a bow (Cartel Fantom, a recurve bow), something I've been wanting to get for a while, and after I spent a while messing with it, I realized "Hey, I need more than just a riser, limbs and string...". So I set out scouring the net for parts, starting with an arrow rest. Lo and behold, they're either expensive or have low reviews (for a small plate with a bit of wire, I was amazed how the prices just kept rising). While waiting for my next pay-check, I thought to myself, "You got this 250USD worth 3D printer, how about using it?". After being neglected for weeks, I set the printer back up and browsed thingiverse for some designs. Found one, printed one, glued one, broke it because I'm an idiot. Only then did I notice that the design I printed requires a flexible material (which I don't have), so again I would have to wait for both my pay-check and delivery. Instead, I recalled that I had some tiny magnets I scavenged from an old hard drive, and decided to replicate one of the arrow rests I saw on the Internet. Honestly, after finally doing it, it feels like more trouble than it was worth, mostly because of the wire. Barely finding a thin wire that is attracted to magnets, I ended up with two options; a thicker paperclip, which broke off when I tried adjusting it after it was installed, or a relatively difficult to bend wire, which broke two of my prints when I was bending it. But with a lot of work and little patience, I managed to insert the already bended wire into its fitting by pausing the print right near it's completion. The final product is a bit lacking in design (since I basically messed up the print), but functions rather well (though I'm yet to fire any arrows). I'm posting the STL file, but if anyone needs it in any other format, PM me or something. P.S. I think that the plunger hole is a bit too small, but since I don't have one I can't know for sure. Maybe I'll edit this later on.
