Nikon keymission 170 mount
Description
I attempted to re-produce a modified version of the original mount but unfortunately when tested, it just wasn't reliable enough for my liking (anti-rotation pin too soft). I eventually ended up with this simple little mount which I can honestly say works a charm!! You will require some extra things to finish this and an .stl from another designer (linked) You will need to print this file -> https://www.thingiverse.com/download:156270 from MoonCactus's wonderful library of parts. Be sure to print this in it's supplied orientation only, lateral layer lines in this part will almost certainly lead to the mount failing. Next you will need a standard camera bolt. these are dirt cheap on amazon/ebay etc a 7mm O-ring is recommended to hold the bolt captive to the mount so it doesn't get lost by accident when switching mounts/not in use, but it's not absolutely necessary. Other size o-rings/ circlips will should work too so dont worry about getting the exact size. Print info and build instructions: main bracket: ABS 0.2mm layer height 100% infill supports needed print time around 1 hour MoonCactus's go-pro adapter: ABS 0.2mm 100% infill no supports print time around 20 minutes build: File down gopro adapter so it is a snug fit into the bottom of the mount. once happy acetone weld (or glue if you are not using ABS) both parts together. (at this point I acetone smoothed the entire part to give better aesthetics and improved strength but it's not necessary) finally, push the camera screw through the bottom of the base, fit the o-ring over the top to hold it in place......job done. I have every faith in the mount and the strengths of 3d printed parts, but I'd still highly recommend the use of a safety wire/string (like the one in my first photo) "just in case"
