Anycubic I3 PETG Modification

Anycubic I3 PETG Modification

Description

I just tried out PETG filament for the first time and run into a problem with the filament sensor and extruder. Originally the sensor is just held by a magnet and can move around almost freely. This leads to a bending filament under tension. While this was not a serious problem with PLA, ABS and even TPU, I experienced jamming with PETG caused by its unique surface structure. So I decided to fix this construction fault forever. I removed the magnet from the sensor, removed the opposite part from the printer housing and screwed the sensor directly to the housing. Now the filament goes straight through both sensor and extruder. To ensure the filament will also go straight into the sensor I added a redirection support to the printer housing. The support is made in two parts to save material for support structures. Just glue together with CA glue and fix it to the printer with some doublesided adhesive tape in addition to a longer M3 screw. I am using this in combination with a filament support like this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2647030 UPDATE: Meanwhile I have added a new part (Support2.stl) which is more compact and consists of just one piece. This part fits to the upper one of the two screws on I3 Mega.
