Minecraft Redstone Ore Lamp Redone
Description
Disclaimer: I am just two months into learning about 3d printing... I Liked this idea for a Redstone Lamp. But being a little OCD, I noticed that some of the side cutouts were rotated 90 degrees. I corrected this in TinkerCAD. When I printed it, I didn't like how the automatically generated supports worked out (or didn't work so well), from Cura, and I just happened to be reading about designing supports... So I remixed it again with my own supports, which work a lot better I think. You should not require supports. ***To finish this model, push out the supports and cut out the small temporary bridges.*** I then remixed the Lid, because I thought the outside lip (at 1 mm thick) was too thin and too loose. I also made it thinner in the body of the lid. I adjusted the height of the boxes to keep the finished model a perfect cube of 70mm. Lastly, for my 7 year olds birthday party, I made another stl to hold some LED lights that I bought (link below). This final file has a textured bottom, but is still solid. It also has a holder for the LED light built in. This file should have supports for the textured base. I added a brim in the file so I could block any supports made by Cura with the "Touching Build Plate" option. These files require NO supports. "Ore Lid Remix.stl" <--- This is the lid with 2mm edge "Minecraft Glow Ore SculptedBase.stl" <--- This box has the holes in the bottom "Minecraft Glow Ore SolidBase.stl" <--- This box has a solid bottom This file is designed with Supports "touching build plate" in mind. It may also print fine without supports. "Minecraft Glow Ore TexturedBase.stl" <---This stl has the LED holder and textured bottom. Here's the link to the remote control, battery operated LED's. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07D36S5PH/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Update (Sept 2018): The white part in the photo is just a 65 mm cube printed in "Spiralize Contours" (aka vase mode). Not sure why, but when I printed the white part the sides warp. Still figuring it out... Also added a picture with the LED on. Update (Oct 2018): I added a new light box. just a thin walled five sided box, I printed in white, as seen the the photo of the five boxes. Printed regularly, this one doesn't warp.
