Low Profile Filament Holder

Low Profile Filament Holder

Description

Update 10-8-2018: I included (Wide) files to make wider holder that will fit Prusa Spools (up to 95mm wide). Sides are the same as the normal size but I included file names wide for the sides as well. I also rotated the items the way you should print them. ==================================================================== This is a low profile Filament Holder, what makes it low profile is that the spool sits about 2mm of the surface the holder is on. Here is the story: I was at a store and seen a container that was airtight and looked like it would fit 2 spools of filament. So next weekend I went back with 2 spools and checked and sure enough 2 spools fit. When I got home I did not notice something about the lid in the store, it sits lower then the top of the box to make the handle flush with the top of the box. I searched and search and could not find a filament holder that would make the spool low enough for the lid to close. So I learned Fusion 360 and made this low profile holder. You can also join holders with the screw/bolt hole that is located in the middle of each side. You will need: 4 of 608zz ball bearings 10 of M2.5 x 20mm screws (14-20mm screws will work) 1 of M2.5 x 6mm screw and M2.5 Nut (if you want to join 2 holders together) 4 Clear Bumpers 1/2 inch (Everbilt SKU#158724 at Home Depot) This Filament Holder will NOT fit Prusa Spools (Prusa spools are too wide) tested with many spools: Hatchbox, Paramount 3D, MakerGeeks, AmazonBasic, Fillamentum, eSun,... Any spool that is no wider then 80mm and before you ask, Yes I will make a wider low profile filament holder that will hold the Prusa filament :-)
