HP Gen8 Common Slot PSU Cover
Description
An HP/HPE Gen8 PSU makes a great 12v, high current power supply for R/C Chargers. I acquired a couple of the 460W versions for free (750W version is identical size). The 460W offers 12V 38A. This cover is just to tidy up the business end, to make it harder to short out the 12V connectors. (Note: The mains input power is not present at the back, so this cover is not to protect user from shock. Only 12v and signal connections are at the rear). Designed to be a fraction too small, and printed in TPU, so it is stretched over the PSU, making it a tight friction fit. There is a 1mm lip in the design that pushes up to the metal case of PSU. I personally added a spot of superglue to ensure the cover wouldn't move accidentally. I also cabled tied the output wires to the metal grid at the back of the PSU to reduce strain on solder joints. 18th Sep 2019 - Added a twin PSU and a sleeve to allow 2 of these to be joined to create a 24v high current PSU, ideal for charging those large RC batteries. Instructions on the modification to achieve that are at https://www.jaimelett.co.uk/converting-an-hpe-gen8-common-slot-psu-into-a-12-24v-supply/
