Bitcoin - Computer Rig Mounts
Description
In trying to get my Cryptocurency mining rig up and running quickly and inexpensively, I cut a lot of corners. I quickly noted stuff getting really hot. There is an overall theme to what I intended the eventual mount, with a fan, to become, but it developed a bit differently. First, I created the Motherboard stands. This was setup to set the Motherboard up on its edge leaving the maximum surface area available exposed to air for cooling. As in this setup, the board does the minimum amount of work, this is really good enough for it, and it is cooler than sitting on the table or propped up on its box. Secondly, I created the SSD frame. I went a little overboard with this. I wanted to install Windows 10 as I have always setup my systems, with two system drives as a Mirrored RAID, and have a drive for data, and one for Virtual Memory Swapping. I got the wrong version of Windows 10, so no RAID. Now I have 1 Windows 10 drive, one data drive, and 1 Virtual Memory swapping drive. I built a frame to hold all three drives together in one tightly packed stand that would also keep them cool. It wasn't until I had multiple Video Cards that the production of heat became a big issue. The GPU riser extenders I bought do have little padded feet to support the cards as they sit out of a box, but they do not offer a lot of support for the cards, and I don't like the angle they were leaning. I also needed an arrangement that would offer me more flexibility in keeping the cards cool. I created stands, continuing on a theme of proving them up on their ends, supporting them much more firmly than the riser extenders, and taking the stress off these connections. They do it really well. I created a union for these mounts to keep everything together, but it could also be done with a rubber band, or left as is I was just trying to produce a more finished product. This is the complete set for the moment, lets call it version 1... I will most likely keep improving things as improvements are needed. Hope these are as helpful to others as they are to me.
