3030 Frame Camera Mount

3030 Frame Camera Mount

Description

NOTE: the clearances of the moving parts is a bit tricky at 0.2mm. I may try 0.3mm and update accordingly. ** Update 2018-09-26 ** Added a second longer 90mm frame to get a larger camera to not overhang the build area. Also added a "USB" extension style pillar mount to allow a simple USB light to be plugged in and mounted near the camera (on mine I will use the 50mm mount for the light and the 90mm for the camera). The USB mount will need supports most likely (at least I used them). **** This is a completely tool-less design. No additional hardware needed and can be printed as is. I used supports to make sure the post had clean edges at the bottom and the small threaded hole is clean, but it may be possible to print without. I printed high quality given the small parts and tight tolerances. 1. The two 3030 mounts will only turn 90 degrees in the 3030 frame and in the mount platform; make a note of the rounded off corners before you twist to free the mounts. They need to rotate to lock the frame into the extrusion. 2. The post has a 1/4-20UNC thread on the top and is designed to rotate freely in the matching hole in the platform to align camera angle. 3. The small locking screw then is used to lock the post in position. When first tightening the screw it may take some care to get the threads aligned, it is very easy to strip these thin plastic threads. But otherwise, I was delighted with how this came out as a design and it worked exactly as I hoped, a very stable platform for a heavier camera. Now for the lighting mount! Designed in Fusion360. Sliced via Simplify3D. Printed on Prusa i3 Mk3.
