Pixel Art Penny Connector

Pixel Art Penny Connector

Description

I love the pixel art model done by Tony Youngblood, and the way it uses a penny as the connector is brilliant (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3080498)! Unfortunately, these same connections cause a couple of problems. First is the amount of weight it adds to the whatever your making. A penny on its own doesn't weigh that much, but once you have enough to make even 100+ block piece, you'll find it quickly adds up. The second problem is getting enough penny's to make the connections. Even after scouring the couches, my two vehicles and my night stand, I could barely come up with enough to make the center of my project. So I got to thinking, why not 3D print a coin? I looked everywhere and couldn't find any models of coins that would work for this so I decided to go on the United States Mint website and take a look at the actual dimensions of a penny and modeled them using Fusion 360. Really it wasn't very hard, but I thought I would offer them up for anyone to use. As a side note, I included a 50% scaled version of a penny for anyone wanting to print the pixel blocks at 50%. I found that this was most useful when trying to make higher resolution images or just something that didn't take up the whole wall. In any case, enjoy and make some pixel art!
