Printrbot Alu Extruder Over-Heating Fan Mount
Description
I Upgraded My Printrbot Plus To The Aluminum Extruder And All Was Well With My One Fan On The Extruder. Then I Started In On Prints In The 5+ Hrs Range And Began To Have Issues With The Aluminum Parts Of The Extruder Heating And Causing Softened Filament To Pile Up And Block Extrusion. I Made A Dual Fan Mount (One On Extruder, One On The Motor) That Allows The Top Fan On The Motor To Swivel And Allow Access To The Extruder Gear. Pretty Nifty, Uses The Same Motor And Hardware (#6-32 And M3) And A Similar But Slightly Larger Fan. To Power I Just Tied Both Fans To The Same 12V And Gnd Lines With Some Wire Nuts. I Don'T Like The Power Situation Because It Means The Motor Fan Only Operates When The Extruder Fan Does And Vice Versa. I Have It Set In Slicer Right Now To Be Auto Fan Control And Always On Between 75-100% And It Seems To Work Nicely, But I Would Like To Get Separate Control So Motor Fan Is Always On And Extruder Fan Auto. Solidworks Parts Included, If You Know A Little Bit Then It Shouldn'T Be Too Difficult To Modify For Specific Fan Sizes.
