Ender 2 - Housing for Mainboard, MOSFETs and Silent Fan
Description
This housing for the Ender 2 I designed for two reasons: 1.) Imho, the original housing is too close to the left bed leveling knob and so I was always struggling to grab it. 2.) For the use of MOSFETs for both heatbed and nozzle additional space was required and simple putting them next to the printer looks quite ugly. The housing consists of several single pieces and all can be printed with the outside of the enclosure on the plain glass surface which makes it look shiny. The walls are quite thin to prevent from warping, but nevertheless I recommend to print them with a brim to be sure. Some side notes: a.) For the threads you gonna need a thread cutter M3 and M4, the core drillings are 2.5mm and 3,5. If you don´t have a thread cutter, you may also heat up the screws with a lighter or so and melt them into the core holes (requires maybe 90° countersink) b.) The Fan I used comes with a triple-wire (for PWM-drive), but you only need plus and minus. Also some soldering might be required, because you need to cut the wire from the original fan to attach the new one with the original plug. c.) Once you´ve printed all parts you gonna find out that the panels appear quite wobbly thin. But don´t worry, in the end it will be a rigid housing. d.) And I almost forgot: to organize all cables inside and outside of the housing is a bit tricky. But I did´t want to make the housing bigger, but you will manage for sure. the cable outlet is designed for the use of a 4mm cable tie. Personnally, I really like the look of screws, so the housing will have plenty of them... so here is the bill of material: 1.) 22 pcs. M3 x 6mm (threaded length) for the back, top and front and display panels acc. DIN 912 (of course, you can choose whatever you like most as head shape) 2.) 4 pcs. M4 x 8mm (threaded length) for the side walls acc. DIN 912 3.) 4 pcs. M3 x 15mm (threaded length) for the fixing of the display acc. DIN 912 (you need also the original Nylon nuts and spacers) 4.) 4 pcs. of M3 nuts for the fixing of the mainboard acc. Din 934 (you will need also the original spacers) 5.) 4 pcs. M4 x 8mm (threaded length) for the fan acc. DIN 912 6.) 4 pcs. of M4 nuts for the fan acc. Din 934 7.) 1 pc. Fan F8 Silent from Arctic: https://www.amazon.de/Arctic-Silent-Gehäuselüfter-Standardgehäuse-Konfiguration/dp/B0119SLG18/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1539464529&sr=8-3&keywords=arctic+lüfter+80 8.) 2 pcs. MOSFETs: https://www.amazon.de/TopDirect-Erweiterungskarte-Hochstrom-beheiztes-Bett-Leistungsmodul/dp/B078HGFDT6/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1539464891&sr=1-3&keywords=mosfet 9.) Set of cable ties 4mm. 10.) 8 pcs. of M4 inlays: https://www.amazon.de/sourcingmap®-Messing-Gewindeeinsatz-Eingebettete-Rändelmutter/dp/B01MSLD9UU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1543060727&sr=8-4&keywords=messing+gewindeeinsatz+m4 So, please have fun and let me know, if you have trouble or if I forgot something to mention! Cheers. Edit 2018.11.24: Forgot to mention the threaded inlays M4 and added item 10.) in the liste above. Sorry for this.
