52mm 500W CNC Spindle Dust Collection Unit
Description
I designed this dust collection unit for my custom built CNC router machine that utilizes the common 52mm 500W "quiet cut" spindle. All modeling was done in Fusion360, and all parts are original designs with influences taken from commercial machines that I operate on a daily basis. This iteration does require that the main body of the dust collector unit be removed to change bits with my configuration, but this can be achieved with just a 4mm hex wrench by loosening just three screws. All components except for the castellated lower boots are printed in ABS, at 0.2mm resolution with a 0.4mm nozzle, 1.2mm walls and 0.8mm top/bottom. The lower boots are designed to be printed in TPU or a similar flexible material to allow contact with the work material without causing interference, and the castellation prevents vacuum suction from lifting the work piece. There are two versions of this piece that extend 20mm and 30mm below the body of the dust collector for the short and long versions respectively. The flexible boot pieces have both been printed with NO support structure or brim for plate adhesion with high success.
