Functional bevel gears with axle attachments

Functional bevel gears with axle attachments

Description

This is a modification I made to allow me to attach the bevel gears designed by dreyfusduke to axle shafts to make the transmission for a rotational casting machine. My 3D design skills are getting better so I was able to redesign these so they don't require drilling out centers with forstner bits. Bevel 1 and Bevel 2alt require support to print,. Plain bevel 2 does not, I recommend printing in a nylon as these are probably the best filaments for gearing due to flexibility, toughness, and self- lubricating properties. Some materials will pulverize used this way. My prints were made using Taulman bridge nylon and have worked fine. I found that printing with a wide raft was needed to avoid warping., YMMV. I did not place holes for set screws or to screw into the axle, so as to provide for your choice of where they go and if you want to tap threads into them. NOTE: If you scale one of the bevel gears, be sure to scale the other to the same degree. This applies only to the bevel gear portion not the attachment to the axle. This can be tinkered without screwing up the gearing. To see the gears in action: :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gj3a2G7QZCw EDIT: The file combined bevel2 was incorrect. It was a prior version before making the full size hole for attaching to a 3/4" NPT pipe. The file, as of 11/8/2018 is correct. I apologize for the error.
