Fan grille assortment with deflectors
Description
Here is a small but (hopefully) handy collection of fan grilles and deflectors I have used in various places and at various times on my 3D printer and elsewhere. There is nothing particularly special about them except for the "grille1" through "grille5" series . They are designed to mount 80mm fans flush through thick panels by providing extra mounting holes outside the profile of the fans and they hide any rough-cut edges. I have included versions with integral grilles and one for use with a wire grille. I used one of those grilles to sink a fan into the electronics enclosure and another to act as a large exhaust port over the power supply on my FT-5 (see photos). That saved precious interior space by enclosing most of the body of the fan within the thickness of the panel while not protruding out the face of the enclosure more than the grille thickness. **New-** If you want to create a velocity stack effect, add as many of the spacers as you want between the grille and the fan body. Or you can scale them up or down in height in your slicer to be whatever you want them to be. It does make a noticeable difference in airflow. Whether it is worth the extra effort or not is up to you. The one place I have found this to be useful is on 30mm fans such as are used on hot ends. They typically need help. :-) I have also included two air deflectors that I used to divert exhaust air from the top vent holes of the electronics enclosure away from the print bed. The amount of air coming out of these holes is usually small. However, if you add an 80mm cooling fan to the enclosure as I did, there can be a significant amount of air exhausting through the top of it upwards toward the print bed. Just use double side sticky tape to attach either of them so that the air moves sideways outward from the printer body. Whether this makes any difference in your prints is perhaps debatable (it is normally only an issue when printing ABS). But they look interesting and when printing ABS every little bit helps. You can of course scale them to be whatever you need them to be. **Update 08JUN2021-** I have added a pair of 60mm fan grilles. I recently created them for another project and hope that they may be useful for you as well.
