Panasonic Lumix GX800 (GX850, GF9) camera battery grip
Description
18650B battery grip for Lumix GX800(GX850, GF9) Capacity should be around 7000mAh (depending on batteries - over 1800 of normal shots no timelapse tested for timelapse its few tenths of thousands). !!!! If it's not working charge it after assembly to balance cells voltage, then it should work just fine !!!!! You can not change SD card while it is mounted, because cable from DMW-DCC15 is blocking battery lid. Please report any problem. Please post a make
THINGS YOU NEED
4x NCR18650B li-ion battery 1x 1/4" x 5/8" bolt (hex head 11mm) -16mm= thread lenght, 20mm= whole lenght 1x 1/4" insert nut (8X9mm) OR 1/4" hex nut 11mm head and 5,5mm height 8x M3 insert nut (5x6mm) 8x M3x12mm bolt 2x switch (MSS22D18 ) 1x 2s capacity indicator 1x 2s 18650 battery protection board 4x pairs 18650 battery contacts 1x DMW-DCC15 (BLH7 fake battery) 1x micro USB MT3608 DC-DC Adjustable Boost Module 2A (adjusted to 8.4V) -!!!!READ IMPORTANT INFO!!!!!
For 1/4" insert nut version you need only this part "main_bottom_rev5"

For hex nut version you need these parts "main_bottom_rev5hexnut" and "hex_nut_cover"
some wires, epoxy glue and hot glue some(not all) battery contacts must be trimmed because there is not enough space, no big deal just corners and you may need to trim spring for battery that is lying under lens
!!!!!!! IMPORTANT !!!!!!!

!!!! DMW-DCC15 !!!!
You have to modify DMW-DCC15 contacts otherwise camera can't use this battery pack and there will be error message. See picture!! You don't have to grind it like i did, just grind out section in that red rectangle. I did it like that because i had no idea how is it going to look like. Length of cable from fake battery to main body must be at least 85mm to ensure easy connections.
!!!! washers !!!!
If you use thicker wires or there is not enough space for them you can use washers. "1mm_washer_pt1" and "1mm_washer_pt2".
!!!! bolt assembly !!!!
put together "bolt_gear_top" and "bolt_gear_bottom" with 1/4 x 16mm bolt (glue it)
!!!! thumb gear install !!!!
firstly put "thumb_gear" into place (in "main") then insert "thumb_gear_shaft" into it - if you insert "thumb_gear_shaft" into "thumb_gear" outside "main" body you will not be able to put it in place !!!
!!!!!!!!! MT3608 IMPORTANT !!!!!!!!
see video at 16:35 The workaround for the unaltered circuit is to turn the potentiometer adjustment screw 20 turns counterclockwise BEFORE connecting power! Apply only 3 volts power initially (such as a pair of "AA" batteries" while adjusting everything, even if your final input is going to be much higher (like a car battery). By default as assembled and shipped, the potentiometer wiper is about 3/4 of the way to the top. If your power supply is 13.8 volts, This will apply about 9 volts to pin 3, Vfb, of the chip, and instantly kill it before you can get started. Probe the center wiper pin of the potentiometer on the back of the board, and check the voltage. When the unit goes into a control loop regulation mode, this voltage will be right at 0.6 volts. If it is above 0.6 volts, it is just passing input through to output without any boost. Carefully adjust the potentiometer clockwise to bring the voltage at the output to 8.4V. Only then can you safely connect the input to whatever higher voltage power source, such as car battery, you are going to boost from. https://youtu.be/VJkwtaycELk?t=995 UPDATE LOG
6.12.2019
Uploaded GX800_camera.stl Please bear in mind that it was measured just by hand(calipers only) and without display.
20.4.2019
Hole for cable top right pillar new "main_rev6" and "no_indicator_main_rev5".
5.4.2019
New fixed versions "main_rev5", "no_indicator_main_rev5" and "right_pillar_top_rev1" changed lenght for 18650 cells, if you have "main_rev4" and lower you need "right_pillar_top" (original one)
3.4.2019
New fixed versions "main_bottom_rev5(hexnut)", "main_bottom_rev5", "main_rev4" and"no_indicator_main_rev4" 3mm drill bit is required, 1 hole for m3 screw relocated and all holes for m3 screws are enlarged and optimized for brim (sorry for that)!!
21.3.2019
I made new bottom part for ones that want to use ordinary hexagonal nut with 1/4" thread ... "main_bottom_rev4(hexnut)" and "hex_nut_cover".
29.1.2019
Reinforced hole for 1/4" insert nut ("main_bottom_rev4"). see picture
22.12.2018
For ones that don´t want battery indicator there is new "no_indicator_main_rev3" body.
5.12.2018
Enhanced parts!! : "main_bottom_rev3", "main_rev3", "left_pillar_top_rev3", "1mm_washer_pt2_rev2" !!!these parts are not compatible with older ones!!! ("main_bottom_rev3" is not compatible with "main_rev2", "main_rev3" is not compatible with "left_pillar_top_rev2".... etc Now it will be stiffer.
30.11.2018
I was using this grip heavily for two weeks, so enhanced parts are comming soon, everything is working flawlessly, but there are some things that can be done better.
16.11.2018
I just assembly my grip and find out that it is not working (error message). Problem solved (see picture and description) problem was with DMW-DCC15. I am deeply sorry for that, but its alive now :)
13.11.2018
"main_rev2" and "main_bottom_rev2" change is only about more clearance for bottom battery and in "main_rev2" is optimized slot for switches - older version works to but you have to grind out material to get enough clearance. I am so sorry for that i forgot to make this clearance.
