Prusa I3 Mk3 eXtruder Umbilical Bundle Support Bracket
Description
I from the beginning have not liked the way the extruder umbilical bundle mounted to the Einsy case with the segment of 3mm Filament. It seemed like it was always coming out or not allowing the bundle to move right. Just recently, after 7 months of making with the Mk3, I noticed that the Hotend power cable had rubbed part of its insulation of where it enters the case. I have attempted to solve the Issue with this bracket. This bracket moves the load of the rotating and flexing cable from the entrance of the case to where there is no protection, and places the load onto the flex wrap where it can be distributed. I have printed 1 full spool of plastic since installing this and am very happy with the results. The eXtruder umbilical bundle can still move freely with only a little more restriction than if it was supported lower. This Bracket attaches to the Einsy side of the frame, using holes already drilled and tapped from the factory. I used two M3x12 Socket Head Cap Screws of the same design that was supplied with the printer. As the holes are threaded, No Nuts are needed on the back side and there is no chance of interfering with the Axis. Once the bracket is bolted up, Take one of the spare cable ties supplied with the Printer and loop them through the holes and across the front. * If you do not have any ties with your printer use some cable ties less than 3mm wide, and at least 75mm of usable length. Trim the tail of the tie if you choose. Note: The Phillips head screws in the picture will work, but they were a stop-gap until I went to the hardware store and purchased some stainless steel M3x12 Socket Head Cap Screws, of the same design that the rest of the printer uses. I hope this bracket is useful to other users. Please like it, if you do, or leave a comment. If anyone wants to suggest any changes, feel free to message me. Thank you.
