Spool Hub Post - 3D Systems Cube 3 Accessory

Description

For you 3D Systems Cube 3 owners. This post, along with the 1/2" hardware thingy will adapt the Spool Hub to your Cube3 printer cartridge. Hardware: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3016607 Hub: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3211767 Flange: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3220545 The concept behind a system I am calling "Back to Basics" is being developed for the Cube 3 printer. This little marvel seems to have taken on a second life after 3D Systems decided to get out of the personal printer market. Today I am introducing an accessory to run external spools on the printer and manage said spool on the cartridge case. One of the highlights of this system is the preservation of the Cube 3's distinctive style. Note that this modification locks the nut inside the cartridge. This allows removal of the post at any time for transport or simply because it is not needed. This makes sure the cartridges are still easily stored. The nut remains captive inside the case. When installing the post, the nut will lock against the sidewalls if the hole is properly located. I print the post and flange nut using PLA (200um/strong/cross/no sidewalks/no supports). I make the cartridge nuts out of ABS. This is purely a personal preference. Know that the threads should be free-running if you print everything with PLA. ABS tends to be a little tighter when printed on the Cube3. For more information regarding the B2B development process, please join the Print 3D Forum and look up the cube3/universal hub. http://www.print3dforum.com/showthread.php/1278-Universal-Hub You need a hole, about 1/2", drilled in the Cube3 cartridge case. I placed this hole in the notch shown in the image. This file is created in inches. Scale to 2540% if you don't have the option in your slicer. Note that the sidewalk/brim is already included.
