Z Axis Braces Ver 2.0 - Minimal Hardware and Tools Required - Tevo Tornado, Creality CR-10
Description
**VERSION 2.0 RELEASED WITH CRITICAL IMPROVEMENTS. NOTE LENGTH OF ALUMINUM TUBE HAS CHANGED** **COMPATIBLE WITH DUAL Z MOD** I realize this is one of 10+ nearly identical mods at this point, but I was frustrated with the existing offerings because they required more hardware than I thought was necessary to mount. Hence, I used my favorite mechanism to create an alternative: tapered threads! Some printers may need to print the brackets with support and/or a brim. You need 1x each of the brackets and 4x of the nuts. **You do lose some Z axis height** with this mod but I have not calculated exactly how much. Edit: Approximately 20mm. Perhaps I will make another version where you lose none. **Additionally, you will need:** 8x M4 tee nuts 8x M4x15mm socket head cap screws or similar 2x 610mm lengths of 1/2" aluminum tubing **Optionally,** some type of vinyl wrap or paint to make your aluminum tubes look good. I used a faux carbon fiber wrap. You may need to add some painters tape on the aluminum tube to allow the brackets to grip the tubing. Note that during assembly the aluminum tubing **is not** supposed to bottom out on the brackets. If you require a remix for different hardware or tubing please feel free to ask, I'm more than willing to accommodate. Update 1: added a version of "Plug" file that should work for M8 threaded rod rather than 1/2" aluminum tubing. Update 2: I was unhappy with how the design installed so I redesigned it into Version 2.0. It is superior in basically every way. Aluminum tubing length reduced from 650mm to 610mm. Version 1 files have been removed. Update 3: An untested prototype set of STL files has been added to use M8 threaded rod instead of 1/2" aluminum tubing. If it requires adjustments please let me know, as I have no M8 rod to test it with. It still would use the same Nut file.
