Panasonic microwave door latch brace

Panasonic microwave door latch brace

Description

I made this to fix my Panasonic microwave door latch. It is a spacer that fits between the original door latch mechanism and the outside of the volume in which cooking takes place. It has notches to house the ribs on the latch mechanism and hex pocket for M4 nuts. To install this: 1- Drill the 2 original threaded holes in the latch mechanism to 4mm or a bit less so M4 bolts (2 needed with minimum 35mm length) will fit tightly. 2- Insert the spacer and the latch mechanism and make sure that they are properly engaged into the other. 3- Bolt them together through the hole in the metal holding plate at the location giving the proper opening and closing behaviour. 4- Bend the metal plate outward to create a temporary gap between the spacer and the outside of the volume where cooking occurs. 5- Drop instant glue behind the spacer. 6- Press the unit back toward the wall that now has glue and wait for the glue to set. 7- Check that the door latch now works properly (3 microswitches to watch for) 8- If needed, adjust the position of the latch mechanism by loosening and retightening the M4 bolts. 9- Reassemble and enjoy for a few more years.
