6"x8" Picture Frame

6"x8" Picture Frame

Description

After returning from our last vacation, I searched everywhere for a 6"x8" picture frame worthy of a 6"x8" photo kiosk photo from the trip. When I was sadly unable to find anything I liked, I decided to take matters into my own hands and design one. You will want to print 2 of each thing file to make the complete frame (otherwise you will end up with only two corners). This picture frame was designed to fit the glass and insert from an inexpensive 6"x8" picture frame purchased at Michael's. As the finished frame is just larger than my printer's build area (appx 10"x12"x.5"), I broke the frame into quarters that can be glued together (I recommend plastic epoxy for this). I also removed the small metal tabs from the back/inside of the inexpensive frame I pirated the glass from with some needle nose pliers and glued them into the slits in the 3D printed frame to keep hold the glass, photo, and cardboard in place when the frame is displayed or hung. Be very careful of warping with these parts- if they warp, the frame may need some tinkering to fit together properly (this happened on my prototype, but I was able to work around it). I printed the frame components with 20% infill and rectilinear supports spaced 2 mm apart.
