18" Ring Light MKII

18" Ring Light MKII

Description

My wife wanted to purchase one of these online to improve the lighting when she does eyelash extensions, takes pictures of the kids, makes videos for Instagram, etc. I had some LED light strips, an AC adapter, and a spare light stand, so I offered to try and design one. I made one, and this one I think is an improvement on that first attempt. This one fits together tighter, flexs less, has fewer parts, and this hinge is a huge improvement. You can See my first larger attempt here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3190704. The .STLs are some what high resolution so fitting everything together should come easy. The ring needs 6 segments to be complete. Be strategic about how you put the pieces together so you don't get stuck with one piece that wont fit into place. attached them in pairs, and then the 3 sets all at once. I epoxied the ring together and applied some epoxy to the light strip to keep them in place as the manufactures adhesive begins to fail. I had a random nut and bot I used for the hinge (1/2"-20 x 3.0" Bolt). I also modeled a Bolt/Nut set that you can try to print and put together. I haven't tested them, but they are close to the right size. So if anything, you could print them and head to the hardware store to find the same nut and bot.
