Prusa Mk3 1:4 scale xmas ornament
Description
As part of a competition to design an xmas ornament, I decided to make a 1:4 scale version of my Mk3 printer. This is pretty accurate dimensionally (though not perfect, and with some liberties taken to make it printable). The model was designed in Fusion 360 (no parts are re-scaled from the original prusa models, since most would be unprintable). No supports are needed for any parts :) The assembly should be relatively self-evident. All the rods are silver 1.75mm filament. All the cables are black 1.75mm filament You WILL need much superglue and have reasonably steady hands to assemble and glue (I suggest using a lighted magnifier to do this). All part dimensions have been optimized for 0.4mm nozzle (0.45mm line width) at 0.2mm layer height. You could likely print ok with a smaller nozzle ok, but I wouldn't suggest anything larger. I used: - * FusionFilaments.com Carbon Rod Black HTPLA+ for the frame. * Solutech Navy Blue for the printed parts of the original printer (to match my printer) (I may print another copy using FusionFilaments.com Radioactive Orange to look more like a stock Mk3) * FusionFilaments.com Cold Fusion Blue for the LCD screen * Filamentum Rapunzel Silver filament for the rods Update: 12/21 - I've uploaded the parts for the R2 Extruder assembly, and posted photos of the completed assembly. Update: 12/8 - I've added the heatbed and connector, and have fixed the Y carriage (which was offset to one side due to an incorrect measurement). I hope to get time to do the extruder in the next few days, and I also plan to do a separate print surface, so it can be printed in a gold-ish color. Note: the image of the model with orange parts is a render that I did in Fusion360, which came out pretty nicely I think. (but I couldn't find any christmas-y HDRI environments)
