CANON Eos 50e Door Latch
Description
This little guy breaks very easily whenever the camera is dropped on the floor. I had to model it because the replacement is apparently out of stock everywhere, online. The metallic contact has to be removed from the old part and glued to the 3D printed one, otherwise the camera will not able to detect that the door is open. Some geometrical features related to the return spring are modelled in this design, but are not necessary. The latch has to be opened/closed manually. It will click and stay in position. For this reason, the grip used to open/close is moved to a more comfortable position (sorry for I cannot explain this better, please compare with the real object to understand what I am talking about). I printed and tested this on my camera. It worked well introducing very few size compensations. If your printer is well calibrated, it shall work well for you too. EDIT 14 September 2019 Upon users request, I added two new versions (V2 and V3) that include two features that were missing in the original model, namely the two alignment/fixation pins for the metallic contacts (V2) and the spring catch (V3). I doubt that V3 can be easily printed, because of the new features' small size and because the spring catch extends below the main base surface. In fact, this is the very reason for I excluded them in the original model. I look forward to seeing if anybody manages to print it. Good luck and please keep in mind that I didn't even think about trying to print it! Since I had to guess some measures, I decided to add the STEP file to help you tweaking the model, in case of problems. Please let me know what changes, if any, you introduced to get the thing to work.
