Cordage winding gearbox
Description
Planning on making a bow string from rawhide (rabbit skin). Need to wind two ends the same way round until they twist together and by clamping this in a vice with a drill attached, I should be able to control the tension. Printed in PETG and gears cleaned up in a lathe to remove supports. Cuphooks screwed into driven gears and a woodscrew with the end cut off into the drive gear - this can be chucked into a drill. You could bolt a thin screw (M4 for example) through the drive gear and chuck that (edit: uploaded a drive gear that will take a 1/4" hex shaft - it's a tight press fit in) Tolerances on this are possibly a bit tight - I've widened the holes in the model slightly but may need to widen them further with a drill to 11mm or so. Lubricate if necessary with petroleum jelly.
