Vacuum Bag Roll Dispenser

Vacuum Bag Roll Dispenser

Description

I buy 50 foot rolls of vacuum bag material. This project holds an 8 inch wide roll, to easily measure and cut lengths, to make vacuum bags with my FoodSaver. This holder makes it simple to mark the bag length with a felt pen, and cut with scissors, but it's not so easy to cleanly cut along the "cut" line, with a razor blade. I plan to install a sliding razor-blade unit, off a empty plastic wrap box, but haven't acquired one yet. My Afinia printer has a small, 5.5 x 5.5 inch build plate, so I needed to print the main body in Left and Right sections. The center joint aligns easily, and has plenty of surface area for an adhesive of some kind, whatever suits your filament and desires. I prefer welding, and friction welded mine along a few of the seams. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1807093 This roll of plastic is exactly 8 inches wide. I allowed a little extra space. If there's too much slop between the frame and roll's ends, print a couple of the "spacers". On my small build plate, the ruler needed to be turned 45 degrees Z, and lay kitty-corner. Each side required 2 hours, and used 50 g ABS, with 0.30 mm layers, medium fill, and a raft. The rest of the parts (2 axles, the ruler, its pin, and a couple of spacers) required 90 minutes and 33 grams. If your software isn't inch-friendly and imports tiny parts, use the provided Metric files.
