C-3PO "thicker" hand pistons
Description
These are modified hand pistons for a life size C-3PO, ideally for costumers etc. The actual hand pistons on the backs of the hands were originally made in brass. People try to use a screen sized model or blueprint reference, but unless you are SLA printing - the prints can be very brittle due to the thin spots and relief lines. I modelled these ones from scratch and thickened up several key areas to make them more sturdy. They are in 3 pieces, a top, middle and bottom. Sand the ends and bevel the holes slightly with an X-acto, and glue the pieces together with CA glue or ideally 3DGloop! glue as it is a solvent and can melt and bond PLA very strongly. Before gluing, make sure to the align the top and middle sections using the flat bottom of the pistons, so that they lie more evenly on the back of the hand and don't roll around. Use a 3/32 drill and use the printed pilot hole to drill through the bottom after the parts have cured from gluing. You can tap the holes using a 4-40 tape and 1/4" 4-40 screws to hold them in place and bolt them in from underneath the hand plate. Good luck!
