Description

Hi, take a look at my other designs https://www.thingiverse.com/BuiltBrokenGlued/designs **update 26/03/2019** I am in the process of writing a new thing which will have all the files available to download. ---------------------- As yet i am not releasing the files to make this up. This is due to it being a work in progress and not all the parts being my own (see below) **Please use the designs pictured for reference/ideas on your own project** **Update 18/01/2019** *See - Design 4 Offset X axis.stl* Sections of the design have changed once I printed pieces and found flaws or better ideas. The design is the same concept but the X bracket has been off set to the rear to make more use of the bed space. I have mocked up in tinkercad a Z axis for the laser. The Y axis runner has been moved to the outside to leave the inside build area cleaner and allow the X axis to have full travel. All the parts are now my own design except for the Stepper motor sample @ https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1735915 The printed pictures use M5 x16mm button socket with printed spacers. These are temp and will use m5 x 8mm stainless once built. ----------- Original I have taken my ideas from other thingiverse projects to build on and design this framework how I want it. On the pictures some of the parts are still some peoples original pieces though modified. *X belt tensioner in pink.* *Frame corner mounts in brown.* The frame uses **V-slot** 1000mm/1mtr 20x20 Aluminium extrusion and 1000mm/1mtr 20x40. The 20x40 is for the runner of the X & Y axis. The 20x20 is used for the X axis supports. Using [V-slot rubber bearings](https://www.banggood.com/5Pcs-One-Pack-3D-Printer-Part-POM-Material-Big-Pulley-Wheel-with-Bearings-for-V-slot-p-1249681.html?rmmds=myorder&cur_warehouse=CN) from bangood there will be 3 wheels per mount that will be adjustable using [Eccentric Spacers](https://www.banggood.com/5PCS-5mm-Bore-Stainless-Steel-Eccentric-Spacers-Nut-For-V-Wheel-Aluminium-Extruder-3D-Printer-Reprap-p-1307246.html?rmmds=myorder&cur_warehouse=CN) to adjust the tension onto the 2040 extrusion. The green Y axis running mounts are the same on both ends. There is a separate module that can be bolted on the so I can prototype the stepper and idler mounts to suit. This will be kept modular in the final design. I may make 2 different frame corner mounts and make them modular but the Y axis idler does not have to be as strong as the Y axis stepper mount. The belt will be run through the extrusion with can be seen by the access hole at either end of the X & Y axis. The belt will be secured and tension adjusted on the Y axis mount plate shown in orange/red. Tension is adjusted using a hidden M3 allen head screw inside the sliding adjuster. There is no support for the sliding adjuster due to the tension of the belt holding it against the mount. *this may change once prototypes are made* I have not designed the Z axis as yet. Im planning to use this with [450nm 5W Laser Engraving Module](https://www.banggood.com/450nm-5W-Laser-Engraving-Module-Blue-Light-Marking-Engraver-With-TTL-Modulation-p-1337358.html?rmmds=myorder&cur_warehouse=CN) which does have a focus ring. I plan to design a Z axis though to allow the laser to move down as it cuts though thicker parts to keep the focus though the material. *I would like the frame to run a small light CNC attachement though I haven't looked at this as yet.* The electronics are still a work in progress. I haven't decided what software to run but I have ordered a [RAMPS 1.4 + Arduino Mega 2560](https://www.banggood.com/3D-Printer-Kit-RAMPS-1_4Arduino-Mega-2560DRV882512864LCDPCB-Heatbed-MK2B-p-1104477.html?rmmds=myorder&cur_warehouse=CN). this can run the Z axis if needed but it can also run 2 separate steppers for the Y axis instead of sharing 1 DRV driver between both steppers. *the heated bed is not for this project, the kit was a great deal with the DRV drivers and the heated bed compared to other Ramps kit for sale* I have ordered all the parts except for the Stepper motors and Extrusion.
