Phone Stand - Horizontal Viewing
Description
I was tired of trying to hold my phone to watch videos at my desk while eating lunch, or trying to prop it up against something only to have it slide and fall, so I designed this stand. It's designed to hold a mobile phone of total thickness less than 12.5 mm in a horizontal viewing position, and adjusts in 5 tilt positions with angles from approximately 18 to 38 degrees from vertical. It will also hold an iPad or other tablet. The only hardware required to assemble is: - Screw, Socket Head Cap, M3 (2x - screw length of minimum 8 and maximum 12mm) When assembling, particularly with PLA, the cradles snap sharply into the base. Any elephant foot or slumping on the outer edges of the cradle pivots will make it difficult to snap them into the base, so be prepared to deburr or file the edges if that's the case. To assemble (the easiest method I've come up with): 1. Screw the support rod with the male thread to the right cradle with an M3 screw. 2. Slide the tilt support over the boss on the threaded support rod. 3. Screw the support rod with the female thread to the other support rod, tighten it to where it just makes contact with the tilt support, then back it off just a small amount. The tilt support should pivot freely on the support rod, but not wobble around. 4. Snap both cradles into the base. 5. Insert the other M3 screw into the left cradle and start to tighten. Once you get close, hold both cradles against either the forward or rear stops, and then tighten the screw in the left cradle while preventing the left support rod from turning. I print all the components except the support rod halves with 0.2mm layer height and 5% infill. The support rod halves are printed with 0.15mm layer height. Be sure and post your makes and any remixes here!
