YETI Rambler Colster 12oz Keystone Inspired Extended Caps 16oz and OEM sizes too
Description
I printed several can topper files found on thingiverse … and well, none fit the coors/keystone taller can and long story short, decided to make my own design … So out with rulers, calipers, paper and pencil to get my own measurements: - Roughly 33mm tall plus 1mm lip put this cap at 34mm tall. - Thread pitch roughly 4mm with 72mm diameter however the thread ring sample I printed proved the thread depth just wasn’t deep enough so the next size up worked better ANSI Metric M75x4. - This essentially shifted a 3mm slice of the thread profile to max tips vs. valley. In turn the threads became little overhangs so I gave them supporting curve on one side to help with printing. NOTES: - That thread overhang support is based on the top, can flange, as first layer printed (180 opposite default position). - I didn’t need supports for my PETG prints. With the top as layer 1, it ensures the otherwise can lip overhang layers bond well. - Used a 2 layer shell with my .5 nozzle and .3 layer height at 25% infill. - It feels right and the curves match visually … Added OEM size cap (23mm) - The OEM square lip shelf is awkwardly in the way when taking a drink, I'll probably never use the original caps again (yeti_cap_oem12v2). Added Keystone 16oz cap (58mm) - yeti_cap_keystone16 v1 --- Flipped prints --- Added a much simplified version of the yeti_cap_keystone12v4 drawing with the file yeti_cap_tall12. It is optimized for printing threads down/first/default. The threads are a little better and the lip was changed to not exceed 45 degrees for good print results without supports. Ok, so I liked the print with thread down as first layer (default). So, I did the other 2 cap sizes as files yeti_cap_tall16 and yeti_cap_OEM. These flipped prints and a bottom file are in my other can cooler thingy post: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3340331 so if you've read down to this ... just go to that post for files :) Or ... just jump to my slim can covers... I didn't like the fat cover and the top lip is awkward even after I gave it curve, so I made a design that I like better: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3370281
