Mini camera mount for vertical stabilizer, 90mm F-22/ other
Description
A mini camera mount to mount a small camera on the vertical stabilizer of a RC airplane or jet. Though it was mostly designed for the Freewing 90mm F-22 It can likely be used with most models that have a V style horizontal stabilizer. This mount can also be used with standard 90°horizonal stabilizers not at V angles by flipping the mount upside down(thus changing the angles). For these mounts to work properly. An opposing magnet or sheet metal must be installed in the horizontal stabilizer. For mine I used the CMS magnetics version mount. But installed the slightly smaller Freewing magnet in my horizontal stab. Print using supports. Use your choice of material. It is important the magnets get glued very well. Scratching up the magnet surface helps. STL File info: F-22_Cam Mount_CMSMag1.stl is for use with CMS magnetics: N42 1"x1/4"x3/16" Neodymium Rare Earth Block Magnet. SKU:NB0176-42NM Web address: https://www.magnet4sale.com/n42-1x1-4x3-16-neodymium-rare-earth-block-magnet/ F-22_Cam Mount_FreewingMags1 and F-22_Cam Mount_FreewingMags2 are for use with the magnets typically used in Freewing EDF jets to mount ordanance, canopies, etc. They are not available for individual sale as far as I know. But I made these alternate versions for use with these magnets because I know many people probably have spares from crashed kits or unused ordanance, etc.The first file is for use with only 1 magnet. The second is for use with 2 magnets stacked on top of one another. For stronger holding I would recommend using 2 magnets if you have them available. I have not tested either of these versions in any way. F-22 Cam Mount hole.stl is for printing cylindrical holes which can be mounted in the vertical stabilizer. This can minimize wear and/or reaming of the foam when installing and removing the camera and mount. F-22 Cam Mount hole with face.stl is the same as the mount hole above. Except it has a round face to also cut and recess into the foam.It serves to make a hard point around the hole to protect the foam from denting if the mounting pegs don't line up when the magnets pull together. I have not tried either hole type yet. They were after thoughts from my initial installation. I may not use either one, but figured some people might prefer having them.Size accuracy will depend on your printer and settings. This mount is based on magnetic force. While I have personally tested the version with CMS magnets and the Mobius mini and Firefly cameras. I simply can't guaruntee these mounts will hold. Also, you'll need to rebalance the CG on your model or it may end up tail heavey, etc. So use these at your own risk, risk of your model, and the risk of loosing your camera. You have been warned, I am not responsible.
