MFD Nimbus 1800 - VTOL Conversion KIT
Description
This project has been tested and is working 100%. It is still a work in progress because documentation is not completed. - TILT SERVO & MOTOR MOUNT: Parts named as tilt_servo_..., front_motor_mount, and square_carbon_fiber_tube_15x15_... The servo mount is designed for RDS3115MG 15kg 180 degrees servo: https://goo.gl/VYcuxr The motor plate is designed to hold Sunnysky X4112S 485 kv brushless motor. The carbon fiber tube used is "Square carbon fiber tube 15 x 15 x 600 mm from (hobbyking Sku: 445000174-0. Dimmensions after measuring are 15,15 x 15,30 mm. You have to print each part twice, one for the front-right motor and the other for the front-left motor. There are not differences between right and left. You also need for each mount: - 1 x Square Carbon Tube 15 x 15 x 1 [LINK1]. - 4 x [TYPE5][METRICA5] x [SIZE5]mm screws, to fix the adapter part1 to the wing. - 2 x [METRICA6] x [SIZE6]mm, to fix part2 adapter to the tube. - 4 x M2 x 35mm screws (optional M2 x 45mm + nut), to fix servos to the mount. - 1 x M4 x 30/35mm + nut, to fix the servo mount to the square carbon tube. - 4 x M2 x [SIZE1]mm + nut, to join motor plate with arms. - 1 x M6 x 20mm + nut, that will be inserted in the bearing. - 4 x M3 x [SIZE3]mm, to fix the motor to the plate. - 4 x M2 x 8mm, to fix the cover to the enclosure. CARBON TUBE ADAPTER Parts are named as square_carbon_fiber_tube_15x15_... You have to print one part1 piece and two part2 piece for each fron motor. Cut the tube to get two pieces of 150mm length. Make four holes to the tube as shown in pictures. Remove original tube and plastics from the wing, and remove the needed foam in order to accommodate the square tube. Place the tube together with the to part2 pieces and fix it to the wing with the [METRICA5] [SIZE5] screws. Place the tube addapter and fix it to the wing with the [METRICA6] [SIZE6] screws. SERVO MOUNT Print the servo mount placing it in an angle of 45 degrees on the bed, in this way servo and wires will match inside the mount. Supports are needed. Remove the screws of the servo and the plastic cap which cover the lectronics parts. Insert the servo inside the mount introducing first the wire through the small square hole. Use the longer M2 screws to fix the servo to the mount. MOTOR MOUNT Join together the arms and the motor plate using the M2 x [SIZE1] screws and nuts. The nuts should face to the inside of the "U". Fix the motor to the plate using the M3 x [SIZE3]mm screws. - ESC & BEC ENCLOSURE Parts named as esc_bec_... It has been designed to hold: - One Hobbywing XRotor Pro 50A 4-6S Brushless speed controller ESC https://goo.gl/1yecm8 - Plus one HENGE UBEC 6V 6A 2-6S BEC: https://goo.gl/1yecm8 You have to print a enclosure for each wing, taking into account that each wing have different cover and fastener (right or left). Remove from the wing the original plastic cover for the wires. Place the cover on the wing and draw it. Place the enclosure on the wing and draw it. Make the hole for the enclosure. Remove 1 mm depth for the cover. Glue the enclosure into its hole. Put the ESC and BEC inside the enclosure, and solder all needed wires. Fix the cover to the enclosure using four M2 x 8mm screws. - REAR MOTOR Parts named as rear_motor_... - LANDING GEAR ADAPTER: Parts naved as landing_gear_... Print the adapter, insert the nuts and glue it to the bottom of the wood try after removing the epp cover. No holes in wood are needed, just glue the adapter to the wood (don't forget to insert the nuts).
