Simple Maker Select V2 Spool Holder
Description
This print is not very polished and very few test prints were done, it was a print out of necessity after breaking my Maker Select V2 spool holder, if you print as is you will need to source bearings of the right size and do a wee bit of sanding. I had some bearings on hand of the 6203Z verity from another project; they have a 17mm id and a 40mm OD I also had some 5/16ths threaded rod (roughly 8mm) from a Z axis stability mod that’s a work in progress so I worked with what I had at the time. This is a simple roller bearing spool holder type and works just fantastically for me A few notes, Different types and sizes of bearings would probably work better as these are designed for a strenuous machine load and are packed with grease meaning they don't turn very easily, but they work fine for me even with an empty spool and are smooth enough not to matter if they spin at all the CD on the end is not necessary if you use a slightly smaller bearing and probably not even at all even with this set up the cap on the other side prevents the spool from falling off but might not be necessary either as the existing spool holder frame tilts upwards slightly. This also should not be overtightened, if you want you can use 2 bolts forced against each other or a zip tie to make sure you don't over tighten them and pinch the spool I'm not expecting anyone to rush out and buy all the parts for this, but more wanted to show people my idea and how i accomplished it so they can modify and design their own. This works super well for me and always gives me a nice loose strand of filament. Some additional notes, half KG spool holders will work but not very well with this design i own one spool of ABS that's some 4 years old that does not have a smooth inner surface thanks to the fact that its screw clamped together and the bearings won't flow over these and get snagged, a solution to this would be to use V groove bearings to ride on the outside of the spool, or much simpler just plop a cut paper towel roll and slide it over the barings. Sorry for the scattered text i had a long day of work, i do not plan on revising this unless i need to make revisions myself but if you have any questions or need help just let me know!
