Silicone sock mold for Anet A8

Silicone sock mold for Anet A8

Description

Features ======== * Fits on stock Anet A8 heatblock * Enough space around nozzle to change it (my largest nozzle is M8, the nut needed to change it will fit around the nozzle without removing the sock) * Screw holes remain accessable * Screw hole at the side with the cables is optionally accessable * **Smells** like burned corn starch **when molded with oogoo**, see below and it stops smelling after some time. How to create ============ 1. Print the heatblock either with the screw hole or without ("OS"), the left part fits both. I printed "Heatblock L.stl" and "Heatblock R.stl" and glued them together. 2. Print the matching molds, I printed "Mold L 3mm.stl" and "Mold R 3mm.stl" since I din't use the "os" variant. 3. Make sure they fit together, grind and cut as needed 4. Use shower gel to prevent the silicone from sticking 5. Wear old clothes 6. Prepare oogoo as decribed below 7. Wait 4 minutes, then fill the molds and push in the printed heatblock dummy. Close the molds and scrap away the oogoo being squeezed out 8. Wait for the remaining oogoo to harden, then open the mold. 9. Don't apply the sock yet but wait 24 hours as it will still release plenty of corrosive vinegar. Oogoo ===== Oogoo is a mix made from silicone and corn starch. Put a teaspoon of corn starch and plenty of acetate silicone (smells like vinegar) into a plastic cup and mix it using e.g. a chinese chopstick. **Attention: It really stinks at high temperatures if it's new**, but it stops after some time. If you know a better molding material for this purpose, please comment. Otherwise, just live with it. It will vanish after some time anyway. www.instructables.com/id/How-To-Make-Your-Own-Sugru-Substitute/
