Background --------------------- This project was remixed from: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2060590 I really liked the Eiii Cooler that is on Thingiverse for the Duplicator i3 style printers. The only problem: it interfered with z-braces. This design remixes the blower fan 90 degrees counterclockwise of the original position, providing clearance to build as tall as the printer allows. This cooler is particularly beneficial because it allows the printer to perform well with flexible filaments. Any attempt I had with the original extruder fan, the material would become wrapped up in the extruder gear due to insufficient cooling and had no chance of retracting correctly. If you look to print flexibles with this type of printer, I would call this modification essential. The module is very simple and you can use the same socket head cap screws as used on the factory 40mm fan setup. The heat sink is not needed with this design; however, if you would like to use it, it presses tightly in to the 3D printed part. Required Hardware ---------------------------------- * 1X Blower Fan Mount.stl * 1X M4x20mm Button Socket Head Cap Screw * 1X M4 Nut * 1X 50mm x 15mm Blower Fan (link is below) Print Settings ----------------------- * This print requires supports. If your printer performs well with overhangs, you can use supports only touching the build plate. Special Thanks & Tip ------------------------------- I am very passionate about the open-source community that provides a means for anyone to make, create, and remix amazing files across the web. It is truly amazing what additive manufacturing has accomplished by delivering a fast and affordable means to manufacture parts. Better yet, the bright and driven community behind the tech makes it even easier for those interested to get involved! Each of my designs are made free of capital but my own. If you found this particular project useful, please consider leaving me a tip (you don't have to, but if you insist, a <a href="https://paypal.me/andrewjoverby?locale.x=en_US" target="_blank">small donation would be greatly appreciated</a>!). This will go towards funding future projects like these, so I can continue to share my designs with the community!
