Ai3M X-Carriage [MK1] (E3DV5)

Description

New Version (Further Development) available!: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3537449
AI3M X-Carriage MK1 E3DV5 Version
First version (MK1) of my design of a X-Carriage for the Anycubic I3 Mega I designed it to get rid of the ugly original "block" carrier and mainly to improve the maintanance accessibility of fans, hotend, cable and plugs. The Carrier was designed to fit the original hotend (e3dv5) and to run with original bearing holders/bearings and original belt as well. The Model comes along with two types of designed fanducts for a radialfan (5015) mounted on the back of the carrier. There are two variants of fanducts for you to choose: 1. with straight regular inlet and 2. with elbow inlet, vertical mount of the fan. So print the one you prefer. The basic idea of the regular fan design is from: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3129964 I took the idea, redesigned and optimized geometric and flowchannels for my carriage. The cooling of heatbreak/hotend is done with a 4010 axialfan. If you're using e3dV6 check out: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3482275 To build the carriage you will additonally need metric screws/hex nuts: - 4x M3x40 (coverplate for 4010 Fan mount) - 2x M3x25 (upper coverplate screws) - 3x M3x12 (lower screws for fanduct holder + hotend positioning screw (back)) - 7x M3x10 (4 for mounting frontplate to baseplate & 3 for PCB) - 16x M3 Hex-nuts - 1x M4x25 (for radialblower mounting) - 1x M4 Hex-nut For best print/strength results print the parts the way they are orientated in the stl file. To gain best print results here's a short summary of important print parameters for each part: Baseplate, Frontplate & Coverplate - No Slicer Support needed, the model includes custom support - Material: PETG or ABS - Infill: 20-30% (or 15% Gyroid) - Resolution: 0.2mm - Baseplate & Frontplate should be printed with concentric infill for first layer only Fanduct - Support enabled only from bed, !No support for the regular inlet fanduct! - Material: minimum PETG or ABS - Infill 20-30% (or 15% Gyroid) - Make sure # of lower and upper shells is high enough so its printed full infill The Parts "distance sleeves variant2" and "fanduct positioning spacer" are not mandatory to build the carriage. The Positioning spacer is only for those who want to have a little aid during fanduct distance positioning between hot bed and fanduct. The Sleeves variant is the easier & faster to print piece of the hex sleeves. If you mounted all parts on the printer take care before first homing! You may have to adjust the z-screws on the linear carriage of z-axis so the hotend doesn't crash onto heatbed, because the nozzle comes slight lower with this carriage If you got any Problems, Improvements or Ideas feel free to leave them in the comments. Like and Collect Changelog - 29.01.2019: Update of baseplate & frontplate, improvements of the board holder - 29.01.2019: Added blank frontplate version without the text "3D Print" - 29.01.2019: Added 06_board_bolts_clip (not mandatory, but it positions the screws) - 29.01.2019: Added 07_distance_sleeves (keeps hex nuts in back of frontplate inposition, you can use the ones you prefer round(variant) or hex) - 07.03.2019: Due to poor print results of the text "3D Print" its completetly removed, Update for Frontplate & Coverplate (Custom support added) - 12.03.2019: Finally the e3dv6 version is published, check out https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3482275 - 16.03.2019: Added the part "fanduct positioning spacer", if you struggle with positioning and right distance of the fanduct and hot bed Ref.
