Focus Zone Snap-On Blinders
Description
"Just dumb enough to work." Too many co-workers bothering you at crunch time? Need something that screams "don't talk to me!" while not having to say anything yourself? Have I got just the thing for you! Seriously, though, this was born of a friend who could not find suitable blinders to fit over his blue blockers, and had resorted to taping sheets of paper on his frames. IMPORTANT: these were designed specifically for the Uvex Skyper (https://www.amazon.com/Uvex-Blocking-Computer-SCT-Orange-S1933X/dp/B000USRG90/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1548282607&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=uvex+blue+blocking+glasses&psc=1). However, these worked for my no-name gov't issued safety glasses as well. I suggest printing in something with a bit of flex (I opted for PETG). Even for the frames they were designed for, both the glasses frames and printed part flex a little (A LITTLE) to fit. blinder_clip_beta.stl is the exact object I used in the final design (with slightly more aggressive nubs for the clip. These were reduced by 1mm in the final design and worked really well), so print that out for a test fit. The position of the clips allow unhindered movement of the frame arm pivots. Please note that the walls are 1mm thin. This was to reduce the weight as much as possible (printed, mine measured 50 grams) while retaining enough strength to take a fair amount of handling (again, I suggest PETG). Mine printed no problem w/o supports but YMMV. Again, print the blinder_clip_beta.stl if you have doubts about fitting. I left enough material on the clips to allow some finishing to fit. I suspect these will fit most safety glasses that form around the face. These were fitted to my fat head (7-3/4 hat size), but worked perfectly well for my friend (7-1/4 hat size) without modification. A minimal amount of sanding/filing may be required to adjust the walls around your field of view to optimally fit your face. Enjoy and get your focus/don't-bother-me on!
