12 Tooth Dual Ulysse Escapement Mod
Description
Note: This is not a stand-alone design. It is merely an alternative escapement mechanism for this clock: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3078909 See that design page for the fully function clock and more details about this type of escapement. I designed this version to be a bit more user and printer friendly. Basically, it has 12 teeth rather than 18, so everything is larger and (in theory) tolerances are more forgiving. At the very least, it has fewer teeth to sand and shape in the event of printing errors. As my printers are still traversing the Pacific Ocean, I have yet to print it out and test it, but it seemed to work in a computer simulation (ie. me painstakingly rotating each part by one degree at a time in a CAD program). A few notes: -Fewer teeth means longer addenda. Be careful that they do not rub the support posts. -This is likely less efficient that the 18T version. The weight might have to get heavier accordingly -Again, I have not been able to prototype this, so I may have missed something glaringly obvious. Apologies in advance for wasted time and plastic.
