*UPDATE* - I've tested my design of a bowden extruder and it works great https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3606182 - Added parts to use 5mm threaded rod for Z axis - Fan Mount for a Volcano hotend was added - Finally I got rid of the terrible moire effect (salmon skin) in the prints; I tested the mechanics, drivers, electronics, firmware, slicer-settings, but the motors caused the problem, they ran to rough - to high inductance?? --> pic "no more salmon skin" - After printing quite fast with the 0.4mm nozzle, I tested a 0.2mm nozzle and printed the treefrog in 0.1mm layer hight @ 25% scale --> pics https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:18479 - the 1:3 gear ratio of the Drakon Extruder was a little bit to low for printing fast respectively accurate; at the moment I'm testing two ~ 1:5 geared bowden extruders (Wade-style) and they both work better; https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:566791 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2639171 *********************************************************************************************************** "CeXY H-Bot MK2" is the updated version of my prototype https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3080955 I edited most of the parts, added a BOM and a simple building instruction (aka foto story); The machine is running great; I printed a Benchy (0.15 layer) in 1:24 and it came out in really good quality (relative to the speed) --> watch the pics! The goal still was to design a solid 3D-printer with standard parts, that's easy to build, use and maintain but not too expensive; It's built with 2020 aluminium extrusions, NEMA17 motors, 8mm steel rods, LM8UU bearings, 8mm lead screws (l=300mm), a 200x200 heat bed, small endstop switches, 2 5015 radial fans and an E3D_V6 Hotend; The parts are printable without support and have tolerances between 0.1 - 0.2 mm; they are designed for M5x8 cylinder head screws (frame); I printed them with 5 outlines and 4 bottom and top layers! I used the Drakon Extruder (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2172854), but there are lots of good bowden extruders on Thingiverse; The electronics board was changed to a MKS Robin with DRV8825, and it prints much cleaner than the MKS GEN_L; I haven't tested it with a standard RAMPS yet; Dimensions Frame - 2020 extrusion: 4x 355mm (X) 4x 340mm (Y) 4x 404mm (Z) Dimensions Bed-Frame - 2020 extrusion: 2x 315mm (X) 2x 189mm (Y) Dimensions 8mm Rods: 2x 305mm (X) 2x 295mm (Y) 4x 348mm (Z) - The BOM doesn't include the parts for the extruder and for the electronics mount; some small parts may be missing; - The building instruction is not perfect, but you will get the idea of how to assemble the machine; - Some parts (GT2 belt, screws, springs, teflon tube, cables) are missing in the renderings; - Fusion-Files are added; I would be very happy to hear from your experiences; Happy Printing!
