Clamping Filament Dust Box
Description
This is a handy little box with a clamp! It can be filled with snippets of a sponge and clamped onto the filament spool, such that it cleans the filament on its way to the extruder! Both sides are printed in an open position and interlock during printing. They should fold quite freely, when finished. A little clamp locks the closed position. This one-print solution works perfectly for me (after what feels like 10 almost perfect tries and modifications)! I am so satisfied with how well it locks and how snuggly all fits together here! I use it as a removable dust collector, so whenever I forget to put it on, I can do it after loading the filament. Just put a cut sponge in either side and off you go! Printing: It should be easy, I used 5 skirt lines and pretty much everything as usual for PLA, only since I have a bit passion for pain, I printed it in 0.12mm (120um) layer height. This should NOT be necessary! Anything around and below 0.2mm should do the trick! If you want to try it with a perfectly tuned machine on a CR10(S), you can use the attached gcode (better slice yourself, since it is 0.12mm layer height).
