Pinewood Derby Slot Drilling Tool

Pinewood Derby Slot Drilling Tool

Description

I made a few of these and they worked great! If your Pack requires that the slots be used, it can be difficult to get the axles in without splitting the wood. This tool makes that job much easier by allowing one to make a pilot hole for the axle that is lined up inside the slots. Ideally one should use a #44 split point cobalt drill bit but, a 5/64" jobber bit is pretty close. Just fit the tool over the block such that the alignment lip is inside the the slot and use the guide holes to drill in from each side. The drill should stick out from the chuck roughly one wheel diameter. This works best on an uncut and unpainted block.
