Filament cap AND clip with NFC chip for filament identification

Filament cap AND clip with NFC chip for filament identification

Description

A PTFE cap, a filament cap, a filament clip AND NFC tag holder in one... For keeping my filament airtight, I used caps that hold both the PTFE tube, as well as the filament that is coing out of the IKEA Sammla boxes, see https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3775679 I use Printoid: software on my Android phone connected to Octoprint. For keeping inventory of my filament there is another software (RolllingUp) from the same author. This software allows using an NFC chip to retrieve information on filament roles. It will remember what you printed with which filament and calculate how much filament remains on each role. As I also needed filament clips. I integrated that in the design as well. Now I can clip the roles, also when removed from the dry-box. Thanks to this NFC chip, I only need to keep my phone close to the filament and I see all relevant printing parameters of the filament, as well as what remains. The NFC chips used are very cheap, a few dollars for 10 of them. I printed caps in each color of my filament which allows enclosing such an NFC chip in each cap. Now all information is always ready to consult, no buttons press needed, keep your phone close to it and read info and administrated info on your phone. Printoid easily communicates the amount of filament to Rollingup, so keeping accurate inventory was never as easy. The NFC chips, now always attached to the roles make administartion even one step easier... and more fun as well!
