Backup camera mount for Scion xD (below license plate)
Description
[EDIT] - I realized that I had not uploaded the nut used to secure the camera to the mounting brackets (you'll need 4). It's there now. Also, the original description stated that you needed the thread library, which isn't the case for the STL files included. I recently installed a new head unit and reverse/backup camera (Esky, from Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KH92MXT or others with a similar form factor) and ran into a problem mounting it on my venerable 2008 Scion xD: if I mounted it using the license plate screws, it blocked the tailgate latch access and obscured the portion of the license plate that showed the state. I realized that the only option was to mount it below the plate and created this bracket. Although this was designed for a Scion xD and the camera I mentioned, it should work for other cars and cameras with similar mounting arrangements. *Credit:* this uses ubenc's thread library here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:8796 Printing: ---------- Print the right and left brackets and 4 nuts. Note that the left bracket is not just a mirrored version of the right one, as that would also mirror the thread direction. The nuts should thread with some resistance, but shouldn't be too hard. If too tight/loose, scale them up/down a bit in the X and Y directions (but NOT in the Z direction!) Installation: -------------- Attach the camera to the brackets, place the license plate over the camera (and camera cable), then mount everything to the car. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE NUTS! If you do so, you will break off the threaded studs.
