All other parts are 3D printed and it can hold also wide spools. The design is intended for the Ender 3 and it is mounted over the original holder that comes with the printer. All parts can be printed without support with a layer height of 0.12mm. Start by printing one body, one cover and 20 wheels. Then unfold 10 paper clips to make 10 pieces of straight wire 1mm in diameter. The pieces must be at least 10cm (4 inches) long, but some extra length helps in the assembly processes. When you have all partes, make sure that the wire passes through the hole of the wheels. If it doesn't, do not enlarge the hole on the wheels. Look for a thinner wire. A thick wire will block the mechanism. To assemble, put yor original holder inside the body. Insert a wheel on the first window and pass the wire through it. Then continue inserting the wire until you see it on the window of the second wheel. Only put the wheel on the window after you make sure the wire is in the right place. Pass the wire through the second wheel until it reaches the stop wall on the other side. Skip two windows and repeat the process on the third. Keep going this way until you have all lines done. The assembly is a bit tricky and take some time. Don't hurry. It is not easy to get the wire on the hole of the second line of wheels. When done, the body should spin freely over the original holder. If it does not, check for bent wires. If you have extra length of wire, trimm it and fit in the cover. After installing your new holder, keep in mind that now the spool can turn freely. Be careful or you may get a boll of entangled filament.
