V slot Wheel tester
Description
If you require a method to test your V-Slot wheels for running true, this may help. You require a Dial Gauge and some 5mm bolts and nuts and washers to set the height. Out of true wheels can make it impossible to get the first layer down, and depending on the location of the wheel, the error will greater and greater as the print gets higher, see my image as an example of how small the error is at the bottom, but increases as the print gets taller. It can also be seen by placing the nozzle just above the print surface, moving the bed you get the impression that the glass is rippled, infact the wheels are raising and lowering the nozzle ( when the wheel on the X rail is faulty ) orraising and lowering, maybe even tipping the level of the bed when the Y axis wheels are at fault. Fit the wheel to be tested under the nut and tighten to finger tight, lower the dial stem against the sloping edge of the wheel as that is the running surface, discard any that do not run true.
