Hypercube Evo HEVO MK3 Fan Duct Modded

Hypercube Evo HEVO MK3 Fan Duct Modded

Description

After trying a lot ( and I mean _a lot_ ) of fan ducts for my HyperCube Evolution and never being 100% satisfied I decided to mod the one that was working the best so far to work just a little bit better. I had used the semi-circular fan duct for a very long time and it worked well until I started noticing that I was getting some sagging on overhangs on the front edge of my prints. I then started to print / test out every fan duct I could find. The fang update for the HEVO kind of worked but directed the air to about an inch below my nozzle instead of the 1 - 2mm below that I wanted. I tried putting tape around the holes just off center on the semi-circular fan duct and got a little better air flow but still poor overhangs on the front edge. I then tried the MK3 fan duct and noticed it directed the air much better but it was still not directly under the nozzle but a little in front of it. After some quick mods I got it directed where I wanted it and am not happy with the performance. The mods I introduced were some quick ones to close off the front of the duct to stop the air from blowing forward and instead directed it more towards the nozzle. I also made it easier to print with no supports and gave it more room for adjustment in the vertical axis. I printed all of the overhang tests in the picture at 200C in PLA at 60mm/s with a 50 degree bed. I have a bowden setup with a BLTouch and for the most part the X-carriage is stock ( minus the hanger for the BLTouch ). I have also included the Fusion360 file because I would love for other people to help tweak and modify this so we can get as quality of prints as possible. I am no Fusion360 wizard and feel like I am always hacking it to get what I want. I bet there is someone reading this who knows how to use it well and do proper airflow analysis ( please please please! ). Here are the fan ducts I tried in the tests. Note that the left side of each print in the comparison picture was facing the front edge of the printer ( meaning the furthest edge from the fan duct ). It had about the same results as this modded MK3 version. Fang update for HEVO: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2848878 Stock fan type: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2777116
