Feeding Tube Connection Cover

Feeding Tube Connection Cover

Description

My cousin Rebekah was born with microcephaly, a birth defect where a baby’s head is smaller than expected because their brain did not fully develop in the womb or stopped developing after birth. Some children with microcephaly lead normal lives, but others experience delayed cognitive development and need daily care. At 12 years old, Rebekah can't speak or feed herself, but her smile and her laugh still light up the room wherever she goes. Because she has trouble chewing, Rebekah has a feeding tube, and with her child-like curiosity, she likes to grab and pull things that capture her attention (like her feeding tube). A few Christmases ago, my aunt asked if I could make something that would keep Rebekah from disconnecting her feeding tube while she's eating, and now I'm finally able to do that! I've spent the last few months designing, prototyping, re-designing, and re-prototyping to ultimately come up with this! It's meant to thread together over Rebekah's feeding tube connection to keep it together and allow my aunt and uncle to clip it to her wheelchair. I'd certainly be open to suggestions on how to improve it! If you have any questions, please let me know. I've also entered this design in the Instructables Epilog Laser Contest for April 2019. If you get a chance and you like my design, please vote for me! Here's the link to my Instructable (Please copy and paste the whole thing. You need the "-" at the end too!): https://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Create-a-Feeding-Tube-Cover-a-Step-by-Step-/
